One side of the city of Santander sits on the shore of what has been labeled ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BAYS IN THE WORLD. The other side of the city faces out over the Bay of Biscay, known in Spain as the Cantabrian Sea.

The site of the royal summer palace until the middle of the Twentieth Century, this resort town has grown into an attractive costal city. Once the northern region of Old Castile, the Spanish language and customs have remained strong and pure, offering a sharp contrast to the industrial Basque Country to the east. Students love a day trip to the Guggenheim in Bilbao, less than an hour away.
This is one of the few places in the world where it is possible to go surfing in the morning and snow skiing in the afternoon. The climate is much milder than in other parts of the country and day outings and recreational activities are a must for any visitor.
ESPANAME, ih Santander is located on calle Burgos, the main pedestrian avenue next to Town Hall. It is the only accredited Spanish Language school in the city and shares all the high educational standards of its sister school, ihVa, a couple of hours to the south.
